Appearance
Newsletters and memberships
Coside uses Ghost's built-in members and Portal features. Enable memberships and configure signup access, plans, and tiers in Ghost Admin; the theme displays the member and tier information that Ghost provides.
Newsletter locations
The Newsletter theme setting controls whether the newsletter area appears on the homepage, in the sidebar, or in both places. Memberships must be enabled for these sections to appear.
Set the sidebar title and description separately from the homepage title and tagline. If the text is empty, Coside omits that heading or supporting copy.
Sidebar signup method
When the sidebar newsletter is enabled, choose one of these methods:
- Default popup: opens Ghost Portal's signup flow.
- Inline form: displays the Ghost members signup form in the sidebar.
Use Ghost Portal for the standard popup signup experience. Use the inline form when you want the form fields visible in the theme layout.
Member access and tiers
Configure free and paid plans, tier names, prices, and benefits in Ghost Admin. Coside reads that information from Ghost for its membership pages and access indicators.
- Post cards and post metadata can show whether a post is for members, paid members, or a particular tier.
- Tier cards display the names, prices, and benefits configured in Ghost.
- Existing members may see account or subscription information in newsletter areas.
- Ghost enforces access to protected post content. Theme badges describe the post's access level; they do not replace Ghost's access controls.
If public signup is disabled and the site is invitation-only, Coside changes signup prompts to sign-in prompts. Make sure your navigation links match the signup policy you configured.
Member pages and Portal
Coside supplies templates for /signin/, /signup/, and /account/. Upload the included routes.yaml separately from the theme archive to use those URLs. Alternatively, link directly to the relevant Ghost Portal screen from your navigation. See Install Coside.
